As a white person, I’ve never had to particularly fear that a cop was going to beat me up or even kill me. Not once in my 74 years, even during my radical political years. And I think this is true of every white person, if they’re honest with themselves.
I’m white, and I had a Chicago cop threaten to beat me while I was cuffed, just for asking what I was being charged with when I was arrested for defending myself against an attacker at Union Station. I didn’t even have long hair at the time.
