I’m always shocked at how many products contain high fructose corn syrup. When I was a kid, my dad developed a sudden, severe allergy to several common foods, including corn. I learned from my mom to read the labels very carefully.
My wife also. Gluten and several sugar intolerances. Prepared food is almost unknown in house. I do the bulk of the cooking, we have a good local alternative food store near Seattle that provides alternative flours, Whole Foods on occasional but $$$. Traders Joe’s has some of the best selection of prepared foods that are GF and unsweetened.
