Murdering the man in public only shows the depravity of this killer. That he should have tried escape shows how dangerous he is/was. If it was a one & done assassination, he’d have hung around, but he left. More work to do, perhaps? Pure speculation, I know, but there it is.
If he feared legal jam-ups, then he needs to think about this: his cause was “just” enough in his mind to require him to slay a man in a house of worship, but not so just that it could stand up in court as an affirmative defense.
He was running away…he’s a coward. A coward for gunning down an unarmed man in a church and a coward for running away. Gardner, KS is almost 200 miles away from Wichita….he was getting away as fast as he could.
