In all seriousness: If a wingnut President were to order a nuclear strike, would anyone be crazy enough to actually pull the trigger? I’d like to think not, but honestly, there are way too many people for whom legitimate nuclear threats are seen as joking material.

If it gets lose from the National Command Authority, launch operations types would not necessarily even know they weren’t executing a drill.
