Statistics are not very satisfying.
For instance, the US Post Office has a very high percentage of successful mail delivery, more than 99% last time I checked.
However, if it is your mail that has not been delivered, then 100% of your mail for that day was unsuccessful.
that’s cute, but statistics sure are useful - for example we need them to realize things like smoking causes cancer, seatbelts prevent auto deaths, and playing the lottery is not a good way to become a millionaire . Might not do you any good as an individual - but, in the long-run, we know that a country with fewer smokers also has less cancer and things like that give countries a foundation to work with for public policy.
