Per the NYTimes:

The law, which proponents and critics alike said was the broadest and strictest immigration measure in generations, would make the failure to carry immigration documents a crime and give the police broad power to detain anyone suspected of being in the country illegally.

In other words it legalizes harassing easy minority targets with unreasonable demands and give unreasonable power to enforcement agencies to fuel the fears and dreams of recrimination of the disaffected white folks who feel this is some sort of pay back for a perceived loss of status.

I repeat. Early Nazis. This stuff starts slowly and builds steam.

We are seeing it in action, in the USA, right now.
