I wondered why Sheldon Adelson ponied up milions for the Gingrich campaign: he obviously did it to split the True Conservative vote in the GOP primaries and assure that Santorum would not be in a position to challenge Romney at the convention.

That makes no sense. Gingrich with his affairs and multiple marriages wasn’t going to take the Evangelicals, and if anyone, he would have taken votes from Romney, not Santorum. At least in my mind.
