Yeah. It was highly paternalistic and many racists did seize upon it as a vindication of their ideas about blacks and black culture. It was problematic as all get out and failed to identify a lot of root causes, though it did identify some. And he was absolutely, astonishingly wrong when he said the pathologies of black culture were propagated without influence from white culture. Totally freaking wrong on that part and that part was a dangerous, dangerous idea.

He should have passed it by the NAACP for editing and critique. That’s in my dream world where everyone rides a pony, though.

Pfft, there is no shortage of do-gooders ready with their black pathology porn, pointing out all our supposed problems. They need to focus on their own broken communities.

The only people who care about the Moynihan Report today are conservatives wishing to tokenize Moynihan as either “a racist” or “telling the troooth about black america”.

Black intellectual circles moved on, decades ago.
