well there is all this talk about escaping methane gas… anywhere from being a green house gas to a huge earth shattering explosion, and a gazillion other theories.

Yeah, there is a lot of nonsense out there. The well was about 3,000 to 1 gas to oil at the start, and levelled off to around 1,700 to 1. (I’ve not looked at a current number.)
