From “Snowden’s” EU Parliament written testimony:

What is your relationship with the Russian and Chinese authorities, and what are the terms on which you were allowed to stay originally in Hong Kong and now in Russia?

- I have no relationship with either government.

That’s his entire answer. Notice how he, rather blatantly, skipped over the second half of that question.
