How the hell can people convince themselves that Trump has done anything, ever, that was not 100% driven by Trump’s unholy lust for his kind of validation.

Because they are (1) as venal as he is, (2) brainwashed from a constant bombardment of lies from Faux news et al , and/or (3) fond of racist bullies and totally in line with their agenda.
