Not everything is the same every-time. Kosovo and Bosnia have cost little, if anything.

There’s a reason that they called it balkanization. We took advantage of the post-Cold War instability to get our own “client states” to use against Russia (who still recognizes Kosovo as Serbian). It was nice that NATO shouldered the bill for that too.

As for the rebels, they didn’t ask for our help.
