The late great San Francisco Chronicle columnist Herb Caen summed up a similar travesty: “They take three good things and make one bad thing.” He was talking about so-called Irish coffee.

I recall when we met some German forestry students in the Grand Canyon and invited them back to our place in Flagstaff to party. Iris started rolling a euro-doober, first by building a cardboard filter (we had never seen such a thing) and then pasting three papers together (ditto) and then wanting to mix tobacco in the the grass.

We had to talk her out of that - over her most insistent protestations - as many of us did not smoke tobacco, only weed.

I pointed out that I like coffee, and I like tea, but would never put the two in the same cup.
