There’s a long gulf of time between now and November. Given the warning shot sounded by Brown across their bow, the Democrats have the opportunity to put that time to good use and turn their fortunes around, should they choose to do so.

Still, midterms favor the party out of power. And the Dems seem splintered, so it’s unclear whether they can mount a coordinated salvage operation. Not to mention the staggering level of national debt and continued sluggishness in the economy.

You’re right about the tip-off. But there’s something about mass-running-around-covering-of-asses that prevents coordinated operations.
