The Lanterman-Petris-Short Act was a liberal policy, and one that had the right intent. Blaming reagan for not ignoring the problems with public mental health facilities in the 50’s and 60’s seems a bit disingenuous. I think it’s weird to hear liberals say we should pick people up off the street and toss them in state mental hospitals against their will when they haven’t done anything wrong.

Mmm, touchy-touchy. This liberal has said nothing of the sort. I certainly have heard that argument from no one.

BTW, it wasn’t just the LPS Act, either. It’s an entire cutthroat mentality that says drown state institutions instead of fixing them; let god the community sort them out.

Lol tossing people out on the streets because conservatives care about the rights of our most vulnerable citizens gives me a hearty laugh. The very idea is written off as “group rights”, today.
