Back in the 70s AMC was the only American car company that produced right hand drive models for the Japanese market. Hard to believe that there were Pacers and Gremlins in Japan but there were. The Pacer in fact attracted a short-lived cult following. Another AMC operation, in Thailand, figured in the James Bond movie The Man with the Golden Gun. This featured James stealing a Hornet from the Bangkok AMC dealer and going on a wild chase highlighted by the famous “barrel roll” scene:

Well, there was GM with Holden-sourced vehicles for Mazda and Isuzu, but they were the exception rather than the norm.
I wouldn’t mind getting a Mazda Roadpacer, as it’s historically significant being the only GM vehicle to have a rotary engine from the factory. They don’t come across Japanese auctions often sadly.
