Shirazi = from the city of Shiraz
Afghani = of the Afghans or from Afghanistan
Bahranipour (a surname) = son of the sea

Some of the names are quite interesting when translated, like the word for “rabbit” when translated literally means “donkey ears” (khar gush). I nearly fell on the floor laughing the first time I heard that—kept thinking rabbits must really be pissed, “Who in the hell are you calling donkey ears, asshole??”

Just to be clear, this is not the notorious Jackalope we hear so much about, right?
