I don’t get the state issue really. I don’t understand how you can be married in one state and not in the union. Certainly if I get hurt in Nebraska, my husband can speak for me. If I’m gay and married in California, I’m assuming my spouse cannot make my medical decisions in another state as we wouldn’t be regarded as marrieds.

That will certainly be brought up before the Supremes. Also, division of property, alimony, and child support.
