I think it was Bush who came up with “misunderstimated”, wasn’t it?

Bush, as much as I disliked him as president, was personally likeable. I wanted to like the guy. He wasn’t mean spirited, he was just, in my opinion, wrong much of the time.

It’s hard to feel the same way about Palin.
