I was writing a response to it but needed some time to get my thoughts in order properly.

I feel that if a band’s music is going to be associated with a candidate the band had best approved of it/have gotten paid for it. After all, the song is their property right?

Thanks for the response. I really don’t think it’s their property beyond whatever copyright claims they have under the law. Poets and authors don’t really charge around from classroom to classroom making sure their work is not misinterpreted, do they? Again, I think that the band can and should state publicly that the playing of their music should not be taken as an endorsement; they certainly have the platform to get the message out.
