From the standpoint of the GOP is trying to mainstream their radicals unlike the Dems who tended to keep them at arms distance I can agree.

I doubt that will make the radicals trying to co-opt the GOP any more successful, rather it will take the GOP down if they fail to disavow them.

What rankles me is when someone claims their side is free of idiocy while decrying the other guys as corrupt and dangerous. The Dems have chosen to keep their skeletons in the closet (or academia in some cases) but that doesn’t mean they don’t have them or that they don’t have influence.

Also- anyone arguing that todays political arena is dirtier or more dangerous than (fill in your favorite political era) missed out on cane fights in confress, anarchists bombing New York, succession (the real one), the Chicago Democratic convention and a few other choice tidbits in our history.
