I think the republicans have the advantage here, refusing to vote to convict Trump in a senate trial. The Dems will argue that if a Dem pres did the same shit the Reps would vote to convict. The Reps will just nod and laugh because they know that if a Dem pres did the same stuff the Dems would be first in the line howling for his head. Being shameless is an advantage they know they can count on..
