New York Times renews call for information on journalists missing in Libya

The New York Times renewed on Thursday its call for information about four of its journalists who went missing while covering the Libyan conflict.

“We are still worried about our colleagues missing in Libya,” the Times wrote in a blog post on its Web site. All four, it added, “have faced many dangers before. Our thoughts are with them now. We’re looking forward to having them back.”

The journalists — Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter Anthony Shadid; Stephen Farrell, a reporter and videographer; and photographers Tyler Hicks and Lynsey Addario — were last in contact with editors Tuesday from the northern port city of Ajdabiya, where they were covering the retreat of rebels.

Journalism in war zones is very dangerous. I don’t think I could place myself in that kind of a dangerous situation.
