Do you view it as a symptom of a larger problem? The music. Gap clothes & trendoids like Urban Outfitters. Strip malls. Truly unique stuff just doesn’t seem to make it.

As I’ve stated once before. I believe MTV destroyed music. Who could produce the coolest video began to outshine who could produce the coolest song. So the focus was on video. Shlock songs sold millions because the video stuck in kids heads like bazooka Joe gum. I think that’s what started it. Then it progressed to stage presence, where, video hungry teens needed their eyes fed more than their ears. Hence the S&M productions put on by Madonna, etc. etc. etc.
