I am not sure what the set up is there, but I’d imagine the only way for the UK to do this would be to cut access to the whole embassy. That could probably cause some diplomatic issues. My guess would be the Ecuadorians.

Probably correct. Either way, Ecuador is in a bit of a diplomatic mess right now.
