Agree on principle, but in this case the overall market is being unreasonably strong in the face of bad (and worse!) news. I’m very surprised we’re back to 8000 in the first place. But remember, we’re facing runaway inflation at any moment, Dow might just hit 90,000 before Obama leaves office, of course a loaf of bread will be 11,000 dollars.

Yeah, but I’m not expecting hyperinflation, just Carter-esque inflation and people probably wont notice it for a year or two. The Dow Might very well ride up on an inflation wave, I don’t expect it this year though. If Obama is actually dumb enough to pull this kind of spending 2 or 3 years in a row, then we can talk Weimar Republic.

I’m also not sure if the soon to be re-setting underwater Alt-A/jumbo loans are “priced into” the market now either.

All this “news” aside. Technical indicators are not screaming BUY at all, they are kind of mumbling short or sell but even that’s not clear.
