My understanding is that the law only allows officers to ask for ADDITIONAL documentation if they have reasonable suspicion of another crime, i.e. the same standard required to search your car without your consent.

Do you think i’ve paraphrased the law incorrectly?

(i still don’t support it, btw, but it’s important to me to understand it correctly)

Can you show me where you see that in the text? I want to make sure we’re looking at the same piece.
