I still can’t grasp how Trump won in spite of boasting about sexual assault while the whole ‘melted snowflakes’ brouhaha in the 1972 Democratic campaign lead to its downfall.

Because desperate people are willing to believe anything. There are entire towns across America who are desperate. They were One Company towns and the company folded or left, leaving that town destitute. Meth and prescription drugs took over because the populace is hopeless. Coal is one example. They are desperate to get those jobs back, to find a way to have the life they once had, to eat and have a roof over their heads. They want what they once had and what they will never have again in the same way.
