The siege of a building in Herkimer, NY has ended after 19 hours and the suspected gunman who killed four and injured two others was killed.

The suspect, Kurt Myers, opened fire on police as they attempted to enter the building killing an FBI police dog. Police returned fire, killing Myers.

There’s still indication as to why Myers began his killing spree. Before going on the spree, Myers set fire to his home before going to two locations in neighboring towns killing two people at each.

From the article he went to a barber shop, and then a car wash, before holing up in a closed bar. That, in addition to the burning down of his own house, makes it really look like a suicide mission. Destroy home, take “revenge” on some people being blamed for one’s troubles, and then essentially seek out death by cop.
