Is there any remaining doubt that Mitt Romney will be the GOP Good Ol’ Boy nominee?

Every time there’s a GOP debate, the obvious winner is Obama, and Obama’s approval rating increases a little - at least it’s been increasing steadily during the period when these debates have been scheduled. Since it’s been obvious all along that Romney would be the candidate, it’s hard to understand why the GOP is doing this to itself.
