re: #369 Walter L. Newton

So, everyone at the store is all greened up for St. Patty’s day, I didn’t even think about it, so, when I come in for a 5-9 shift tonight, I’, in my regular Kroger blue shirt, black pants and black grocers apron.

I realized I would get some questions from some employees and managers (green was not mandatory, just allowed for today), so, when on of the managers asked me if I celebrate St. Patty’s day, I told her, with a poker straight face… that… “No… the IRA killed my Grand Pappy and some other family members many years ago in Ireland, and things like green and St. Patty’s day brings back the horrible memories.”

(wait for reaction)

Yea… she was so upset that I had to tell her I was only kidding. I have to stop doing that at the store.

In the early 90s, you could get fired from Office Depot if you deviated ever so slightly from the CLOSING ANNOUNCEMENT, even if there were no actual customers in the store.

Try reading the following aloud. Somebody scripted that, and somebody who made more money signed off on it.

Attention Office Depot shoppers: The time is 9pm, and the store is now closed. Please bring your final selections to the store front at this time. For your convenience, our store hours are Monday through Friday eight AM to nine PM, Saturday nine AM to eight AM, and Sunday ten to six. As always, thank you for shopping at Office Depot, and have a pleasant evening.
