As one who is currently employed in the retail industry, while the extreme conditions present on Black Friday will indeed cause ordinary human beings to behave like unthinking, ravening and rampaging rodents in the grips of an extinction pulse, I’ve observed that even in quiet periods many customers will behave as though the absence of certain items is exactly the same as the loss of a heel of bread in a famine.
