He was what he was. The New Right is so far to the right of Buckley, assimilating groups that he he found abhorrent, that he seems moderately Liberal (gasp!) by comparison.

Heh, what an appropriate word, as the image of the Borg it invokes in my mind makes so much sense when thinking of the wingnuts. They assimilate anything and everything they think will help them attain “perfection,” a purity of ideology that is simply unobtainable, with any facts or persons who stand in their way either ignored or destroyed.
