For whatever reason, mounted police officers always show up at the local mall come the Christmas season. I’ve yet to figure out why.

You remember reading about stampedes for Wal-Mart Black Friday sale, or a mini-riot by parents when a store ran out of their kids’ ‘must have’ toy? That’s why the mall asks for mounted officers. Because as Alouette noted, they are excellent at crowd control.
