In my more Moonbatty days, reading GG, Democracy Now, and the like, I believed the U.S. would stay in Iraq forever. We were said to be building some super huge Embassy there and just assumed we’d have military forces there perpetually. Guess that wasn’t how it worked out.

That was a pretty fucking fancy, huge embassy, from what I remember reading about it.
