Are they afraid of telling you, since they may like you for your service and they just can’t bring themselves to bring the bad news?

I have no idea. The county clerk (R) doesn’t live in my town but knows me from interactions at the county offices. The rest of the village board is in the dark about the election as I am.

My wife was talking with the gun shop owner … he just left. He said again on the way out that he thinks I actually won the election (but he’s not the guy who counts the votes, so we’ll see).

We have sharp differences in political views, but other than that we get along pretty well.
