In my opinion I’d rather see the military take over temporarily and set up Ataturk-like rules for secular society and government with the military as the guardian. The model worked well in Turkey for a long time and I think it’s the best model for democracy in the region.

Last week the military issued a cryptic statement urging all sides to reconcile, pledging to step into politics if needed to protect the nation and making no reference to Mr. Morsi.
