The pubs don’t open here til 11am (earlier in England), and stores won’t sell liquor until 11am either. last week Jimmah and I were at the supermarket and this guy walks in, yells at the cashier “D’ye have alcohol?” She says yes, he yells back, “Where is it?”

Clearly an emergency. /

When I visited Moscow several years ago, alcohol was sold everywhere, even on street-corner kiosks, and the adult beverages section was the largest section in any grocery store.

Also, people would just guzzle out on the street, not even bothering to hide their bottle in a paper bag like the winos do here.

And at gas stations! You could buy vodka at a gas station! And drive with an open container.
