For those interested in ancient manuscripts, Christies is going to do an auction with an interesting lot, including a 4th century coptic papyrus:

That blog entry makes the case that this document will likely be lost to the public and maybe even scholars.

A great deal of antiquities disappear down the rat hole. I wonder what exists in private collections, and how much more could be known if it saw the light of day.
