Junior year HS English class, we scandalized our teacher (nice lady, well-liked) by singing Poe’s “The Raven” to the tune of the “Battle Hymn of the Republic”.

Most of Emily Dickinson’s work can be sung to the tune of “The Yellow Rose of Texas.”
