I’m still cogitating on how much doomer visions are projections of personal psychological distress versus solid analysis of the future given the information at hand.

Well…you know how the “personal distress” of animals (e.g. fleeing, noise-making, other frantic behavior) seems to signal the onset of a major disaster, e.g. earthquake, flood, etc? There must be some vestige of a similar instinct in humans, which perhaps manifests itself as sudden anxiety, despair, or an overwhelming sense that something bad is going to happen.
