Just to wrap up my little thing about George Carlin, I do find it hard to believe he went to catholic school and never heard of the Beatitudes. My junior year at Father judge had a large part of the theology course dedicated to the argument that Jesus came to Earth not to die for our sins (whatever that meant), but to give us the Beatitudes. In short, the argument goes something like:
You guys who are all hung up on the Old Scriptures are kind of missing my Dad’s point. There’s more to righteous living than obeying the ten commandments, and I don’t even know where you came up with some of the stuff that you base your laws on. But if you can abide by these eight simple guidelines, I think we’re good.

Ummm as someone who is “hung up” on the Torah, I respectfully disagree with your over simplistic and faintly insulting summation…
