Gee willikers, Ed, that sounds like a novel solution!
Promising a streamlined ‘corporate culture’, Gillespie says he’ll look to shed 1,000 jobs from state government

OFFS.

Gillespie’s proposal to shrink the state’s payroll without layoffs is part of a broader reorganization plan that Gillespie said could make Virginia the “best managed state in the country” by modernizing government, improving customer service and creating a better “corporate culture.”

You know what I don’t associate with businesses that cut thousands of jobs? Improved customer service. In fact, I generally see the exact opposite, as the people who are left find themselves buried under paperwork, dealing with bureaucratic tangles because the people who used to be there to sort it all out are now gone, and stressed the fuck out because they’re expected to do the work that two or more people used to handle.

Oh, and further down:

After going into great detail Wednesday morning about his plan to improve the inner workings of the state bureaucracy, Gillespie was asked for his response to Trump’s stunning decision to fire FBI director James Comey Tuesday night.

The news out of Washington, coming amid FBI scrutiny of possible ties between Trump’s campaign and Russian operatives, has transfixed political observers, but Gillespie said he needed to get more information before commenting.

“I just have not had a chance to focus on it,” Gillespie said.

Another profile in courage./////
