It is not just Hoilywood, the American viewing public is developing an increasing inability to distinguish between fictionalized history, which cannot begin to bring across every nuance, sub-plot and counteraugument, and real history, which is much more thourough but nowhere near as sexy and glamorous.

I blame people craving sensation, preferring to feel rather than think if that makes sense.
