What the lay people believe and what the church believes are totally separate things.

But your claim was that the church has stopped pushing the hell thing. So you’re talking about the church, not about the lay people. Did you just fuck up in trying to address that point?

During that same time period, support for gay rights rose, as belief in hell also rose. So, reverse correlation, which does disprove causation unless you can come up with some other forcer.
