I am old enough to remember when Jon Huntsman was a charming, principled moderate who even spoke the Chinesetalk.

Huntsman isn’t a much of a clown as most GOPers, but was never a moderate. His tax proposal started with completely eliminating taxes on capital gains and dividends.

Nothing ‘moderate’ about that shit.

I’d like to see something like this added to style guides for political writing: “The term ‘moderate Republican’ is not to be used. It refers to something that doesn’t exist and hasn’t existed for decades. Having this in an article about politics is like writing about 4-sided triangles in a mathematics textbook.”
