His sons were born to privilege and never had to do much in the way of heavy-lifting. Bush Sr. volunteered because he wanted to serve his country, Dubya volunteered because he didn’t want to shipped off to ‘Nam.

Dan Rather was stupid to run with the faked documents in the GWB Texas Air National Guard story. It seems highly plausible that GWB didn’t take that service very seriously, but those documents really were incredible on their face, both in substance and in form.
