Um, dear. thinking that “the idea of god and man made religions is stupid at its best” is the definition of atheism: from the Greek, a- (without) + theism (God).

He may believe as I do that human attempts thus far to describe God are absurd at best and have often been very harmful.

On this issue, the idea that it is illegal to deny the holocaust in Germany is unfortunate. Being drummed out of polite society, yes. Thrown in jail? Absurd and dangerous.

If I might also say, I think believing that a lone assassin killed Kennedy requires more credulity than a conspiracy.
