Giles is pushing the idea that there is plenty of hydrocarbons in the Earth, as a matter of the physical processes of the Earth and its formation, not as a result of living matter. His essay is beyond idiotic, but because a big part of it is an attack on AGW I expect the righthate-o-sphere to pick it up.
