Dell laptop. Probably ATT. I am in Florida. Looked at the coverage map and it is good. Just not sure if it is worth the investment. And I won’t ask a salesman because I know the answer I will get.

I use AT&T and am pretty satisfied with the 3G network. It’s not very fast, though. You might want to look at Sprint. They’re supposed to roll out 4G soon. They also sell a device that’s basically a little mobile wireless hub that lets you connect up to 5 computers over 3G (or soon 4G). You can use it in your car or house. No card needed.
